MESSAGE FROM CHIEF OF POLICE

EDWARD F. GEHEN

On behalf of the entire West Seneca Police Department, I would like to welcome you to the Town of West Seneca and tell you a little about our organization.

The Town of West Seneca is located in western New York State and is a suburb of the City of Buffalo.  Our police department services approximately 21 square miles, over 150 miles of roads and over 45,000 citizens.

Currently we have 65 sworn police officers, 17 full and or part-time Public Safety Dispatchers and 13 civilian employees.  We supply a full range of police functions to the town including patrol and investigative activities.

In 1993 the West Seneca Police Department received Accreditation from the New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation Council.  This is one of the highest honors that a police department in New York State can receive and we are proud to have been one of the first to receive this recognition.  This honor is one that we still have today after having been re-evaluated by the council in the June of 2008.

Our department is community orientated with a full array of Neighborhood Watch Groups, school programs, bike patrols and an ongoing Citizen Police Academy.

We believe that West Seneca is a very safe and special place to live, raise a family and work in the Western New York area.  I ask that you check out our website to see the fine work that is done by the officers and staff of our department.  We welcome your questions and feedback.
